April fools pranks
Wiedman was an assistant in a fast-food joint, at the time, and wear one of those hats with tissue paper. His colleague Rick thought it would be a riot - and a tribute to an April Fool - by hiding behind his companion, and put his hat on fire.
Rather than creating a slow-burning, however, the manager's hat gag is as a bonfire on the Fourth of July. "He had to withdraw, throw on the ground and smother the flames, " recalls Wiedman, now a professor of Commerce in Lincoln, Nebraska. "I sang, and for several weeks, it seemed that I wa going bald. "
