Zsa Zsa Gabor was hospitalized for half of his leg amputated after a blood clot in his leg spread.

The doctors considered a lesion on the leg of former actress, who is a little more than an inch up to about a foot and gangrene growing, said John Blanchette publicist.

"You must go to amputate the leg,"he said. "if not, he could lose his life."

He said this would probably be a below-knee amputation.

Gabor taken to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and was prepared for surgery on Monday night, said Blanchette. Her husband, Prince Frederic von Anhalt is with her.

He retired from the scene after the accident. She loved being at home watching soap operas, quiz shows and old movies, Mr. von Anhalt, said in July 2010.

He said he hated, he photographed her, as he sat in his wheelchair. "They want to remind people that a few years ago,"he said.
