Wacthing Lunar Eclipse Online Live

Lunar Eclipse Live Web Chats

This December, the moon is bringing a holiday gift. In the very early morning of Dec. 21, or late night of Dec. 20, depending on your time zone, a total lunar eclipse will make a dramatically colorful appearance -- from bright orange to blood red to dark brown and perhaps gray. The next total lunar eclipse will begin when the moon moves into Earth's penumbral shadow on Dec. 21, 2010 at 5:29 UTC. To determine your local time for the eclipse, simply Google "convert UTC time to local time" and covert the time Dec. 21, 2010, 5:29 UTC.

Want to know more? On Dec. 20, make plans to stay "up all night" with NASA astronomer Mitzi Adams as she answers your questions from 12:00 midnight to 5:00 a.m. EST. Joining the chat is easy. Simply return to this page a few minutes before 12:00 midnight EST. The chat module will appear at the bottom of this page. After you log in, wait for the chat module to be activated, then ask your questions. See you in chat!

Live Camera at Marshall Space Flight Center

Hey everyone -- these are the skies over the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala. As you can see, the skies are varying between clear and cloudy here. We hope for good weather for the eclipse later tonight. We've also compiled a list of other web cams on our "Watch the Skies" blog that may have better weather and viewing options.
